Hello! I'm Louise, So where do I begin! After I finished my degree in Illustration and Visual Communication, I started a career in Graphic Design. After a couple of years it led me down a very different path from my degree to presentation and event graphics. Then once my daughter was 18 months old I ended up becoming a freelancer which worked well juggling family life and work . I love what I do and get to work with some amazing companies on exciting events but I've always had a little part of me wanting to go back to creating artwork which is where my real passion lies.
In 2011 we moved and my husband built me a studio/office at the bottom of our garden. This gave me the space and drive to start create more artwork, I had the room to leave it all out and make a mess without a toddler getting in the way.
It was just after having my son in 2012 that I started paper cutting. One day I saw a beautiful papercut family tree and wanted to give it a go myself. I had no clue at first, I used a Stanley knife and card stock to attempt to cut out my drawing; it didn't look great! The whole idea of creating something beautiful out of a piece of paper really appealed to me and the challenge that with one slip of the scalpel hours of work could be ruined really excited me. Over time I have perfected my technique using my own sketches and Photoshop to add the text. Each piece is designed by me and entirely cut by hand with a scalpel.
Then fast forward to 2018 after having to stop papercutting for a couple of years while we completely renovated our home mostly by ourselves that eventually led me to the choosing of new wallpaper, colours, fabrics and patterns to decorate our home it was this process which made me absolutely fall in love with surface pattern design. It was so exciting choosing pieces for each room and sometimes it took me so long as I knew what I wanted in my head but I couldn't find it anywhere. I took the huge plunge and started creating patterns for myself and then invested on Bonnie Christine's amazing Immersion course in Feb 2020 and here I am now.
